Dr. Aye Aye Thant is an Associate Professor of the English Department, University of Yangon. She holds a Bachelor of Art (Honours.), Master’s Degree in English from the University of Mandalay and Ph.D Degree from the University of Yangon. She has been working in the English language teaching field as a teacher, trainer, co-ordinator and researcher since 2002. Currently, she is teaching and providing supervision to the master’s students of the English Department, University of Yangon and the students of English for Professional Purposes, National Management Degree College. For international exchange programmes, she joined the 39th Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Programme (39th SSEAYP 2012) as a National Leader of Myanmar Contingent in 2012. In 2014, she also joined the 41st Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Programme (41st SSEAYP 2014) as a National Leader. She served as a Team Leader for Myanmar Japan Exchange Visit for Outstanding Students Award 2017. She is involved in designing curricula and syllabuses of English for the basic education level. She has worked with the Department of Education Research, Planning and Training and JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) as a member of the Curriculum Development Team of English in developing new English Textbooks for the new primary English course, basic education in Myanmar. She has conducted the training workshops for New Primary Curriculum Introduction – Grade 1 and Grade 2 English in 2018, Grade 3 English in 2019 and Grade 4 English in 2020 and the Seminar on Assessment in the primary education for in-service primary English teachers in order to help them in teaching new primary English course. Her interests lie in English language teaching methodology, utilizing ICT in English language teaching and teaching applied linguistics and conducting researches in this field.
