Dr Zaw Soe Min
Professor, Department of History
He was born in Yangon in 1970 and got his first Degree (B.A. Hons:) in 1994 and post graduate degree (M.A) in 1998 with History Specialization from the University of Yangon. Then he got his Ph.D from Okayamma University (Japan) in 2010 with specialized study on the Myanmar Nationalist Movement before the Second World War with special references to the Activities of Dobama Asiayone.
He joined the university academic career in 1995 as a tutor of the Department of History, University of Yangon. Then he was promoted step by step as Assist Lecturer, Lecturer and Assoc Prof in the University of Yangon, Sittway University and Dagon University. Now he serves as a Professor of the Department of History, University of Yangon since December 2017 up to the present day.
His field of teachings are Modern Myanmar History, Modern India History, Modern Japan History and Constitutional History of Myanmar for both undergraduate and postgraduate classes.

His research works that already done are
– History of Anti-Fascist Resistance Movement (1942-1945)
(Thesis submitted to the Senate of the University of Yangon as the partial fulfilment for his M.A. Degree in 1998) and
– History of Dobama Asiayone in the Myanmar Nationalist Movement
(Dissertation submitted to the Senate of the Okayama University, Japan as the partial fulfilment for his Ph.D Degree in 2010)
Now he is doing research on the Constitutional History of Myanmar since the colonial period up to the present day and writing a book with the name of “CONSTITUTIOANL EVOLUTION AND MYANMAR POLITICS”. It is expected to fill a gap in Modern Myanmar Political History and to be able to use as a reference in dealing with the constitutional plight of Myanmar nowadays.
For the time being, part of his research findings on Constitutional History of Myanmar are being used as the research based teaching materials in Third Year Hons: Classes and M.A. Qualifying classes.
QUALITY ASSURANCE SYSTEM IMPLEMENTATION IN THE HEIs
His another field of interest is Quality Assurance System Implementation in the Higher Education Institutions of Myanmar as well as TVET and Basic Education Sectors. He deeply involves in the implementation of QA System in HE, TVET and BE Sectors of the country.
He was active in the field of QA System Implementation in the HEIs of Myanmar since 2012 as an IQA Unit member of the University of Yangon. He actively participates in the AUN-QA Training and Workshops as trainee and in the Cascading Workshops as trainer since then.
He was also participated in the Trainings and Workshops of National Skills Standard Authority (NSSA) for TVET Sector as trainee as well as trainer.
He also played as a QA Manager while serving as Assoc Prof in Dagon University in the years 2015 – 2017. He played a leading role in implementing an ASEAN – QA + DAAD Sponsored Project for QA System Implementation in the Institutional Level of that university.
He served as a member of QA and NQF (National Qualifications Framework) Team led by Prof. Dr Tin Tun (Rector of Taungoo University) and Prof. Dr Kyi Shwin (Rector of the Yangon University of Foreign Languages) from 2014 to 2016. It was assigned by the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education.
Moreover he serves as a technical team member of the National Accreditation and Quality Assurance Committee (NAQAC) under National Education Policy Commission (NEPC) since 2017 up to the present days.
He was also assigned by the National Commission for UNESCO Affairs in Myanmar to join the UNESCO meetings on upgrading QA system implementation and Internationalization of HEIs in Asia and the Pacific Region since 2015 until 2017 annually.
