Dr Aye Aye Aung is an Associate Professor in the Anthropology Department of the University of Yangon. In 2013, she got received her PhD degree in Cultural Anthropology. She has 22 years of teaching experience in Cultural Anthropology and Physical Anthropology. She has published the research on the socio economic life of Myanmar’s ethnic groups (Wa, Salon and Naga) in the Myanmar Universities Press in 1999, 2000 and 2004. She has also done ethnographic research on Taung Tha and Paoh ethnic groups. In 2013, she participated as a researcher for local development projects with Hanyang University (South Korea) in Mandalay, Upper Myanmar. She was awarded a Scholar Research Fellowship by the Korea Foundation of Advanced Studies and she did research in Seoul National University focusing on cultural heritage and using ethnographic methods from August 2015 to February 2016. Currently she is one of the Myanmar collaboration researchers in Myanmar’s emerging new generation elites research at the Education Research Institute of Seoul National University from January, 2018 to August, 2018. She is also doing research on the linkage between Naung Taung Monastic Education and Local Communities, a research project to be funded by the Asia Research Center from August 2017 to August 2018.
