Daw Zune Zune Pwint Phyu is an associate professor of the Department of English at the University of Yangon. After completing a Bachelor’s degree in English in 2002, she earned a postgraduate diploma in English Language Teaching in 2004 and a Master’s degree in English in 2006. She has been working in the field of English language teaching for over 16 years as a teacher, trainer, coordinator and supervisor, in a range of ELT contexts in different institutions of Myanmar. Her teaching experiences in higher education mainly focus on English literature studies, communicative skills and varied areas of linguistics. She has more than 5 years of experiences in teaching and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students of the Department of English. She also actively participated in the coordinating role of Myanmar Extensive Program (MERP) not only in Mandalay University but also in other institutions in Mandalay areas. Regarding the international collaborative works, she was a fellow in the Writing and Thinking Program at the Institute of Writing and Thinking (IWT), Bard College, U.S in 2016, and led a weeklong workshop to the faculties in Mandalay University after that. Besides, she received the Faculty Development Fellowship from Central European University (CEU) in 2018-2019 where she had chances to join the Research Development Programme as well as Curriculum Development Programme in addition to faculty development training. While her interests lie in the fields of English language teaching methodology and Sociolinguistics, her development work currently focuses on sociolinguistic studies and discourse analysis, with particular attention to Gender Studies.
